PIPEX 2009

PIPEX 2009 will be May 22, 23, and 24 at the Doubletree Hotel Lloyd Center in Portland, OR. The Show hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. PIPEX will include 228 frames (All allocated) of exhibits, 34 dealers (all signed up and listed below), including the United States Postal Service, a large youth program, a “Grandma’s Attic” booth to answer questions and provide free appraisals, a silent auction, first day covers, and seminars and meetings sponsored by participating societies but open to the public. Admission is free to the public.


PIPEX is an APS World Series of Philately show. Its stamp exhibits are judged by an American Philatelic Society (APS) certified panel of judges. The exhibit winning the Grand Award will be eligible to compete in the Champion of Champions competition at the APS StampShow August 6 to 9, 2009 in Pittsburgh, PA.


Participating societies holding meetings include:

* the American Helvetia Philatelic Society
* the United Postal Stationery Society
* the Auxiliary Markings group
There will also be meetings of the American Air Mail Society (AAMS) and the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors (AAPE).


The Doubletree Hotel is at 1000 NE Multnomah Street, Portland, OR 97232, right next to Lloyd Center. The special rate for parking is $3. The phone number for reservations is 1-800-996-0510. The special room rates (be sure to mention PIPEX 2009) are $99/night for a single room and $109 for a double room (plus tax of 12.5%). Reservations must be made by April 21, 2009.


The Doubletree is half a block from a Max light rail line station, which provides easy access from downtown or from Portland Airport. There is also easy access from I-5 and I-84.


The Awards banquet will be held on Saturday, May 23rd at the Doubletree Hotel. Tickets are $43.50 each. Meal choices are Vegetable Wellington or Chicken Marsala.
